Europe wins Ryder Cup 2014

When it just looked like the United States were going to make a remarkable comeback, Europe held their nerve to win 16 1/2 to the US’s score of 11 1/2. The US was behind Europe 10-6 yesterday but believed that they could replicate the performance of Europe who were in a similar position at the same stage during their last meeting at Medinah two years ago, but turned it around. The US started strongly with the first 12 singles matches and it seemed like a miracle was possible. However, brilliant individual performances by world number one Rory McIlroy, MartinĀ  Kaymer, Graeme McDowell and rookie Jamie Donaldson secured victory for Europe. US captain Tom Watson conceded defeat while some of the individual matches were still ongoing by congratulating European captain Paul McGinley.
